CVAM-based management accounting emphasizes that enterprises should make efforts not only to provide goods or service to customers but also to create value for customers. In practice, customer value should be measured reasonably first. A detailed examination of the practices reported by managers in thirty-one affiliates of Japanese companies engaged in manufacturing in Singapore revealed a high degree of conformity with the Japanese best practice (also known as ‘lean production’) model in the way work is organized and in the shop-floor level manufacturing practices, but greater conformity to host country norms in the HRM practices applied to the local work-force. This is consistent with the patterns reported in the existing literature regarding Japanese transplants in other countries, including the US and the UK. Strong statistical relationships were found in the Singapore study among the work organization cluster, the manufacturing practices cluster, and the performance outcomes. No significant relationships were found between the HRM cluster and any of the ‘downstream’ variables (work organization, manufacturing practices or performance outcomes), but relatively heavy reliance on expatriates was found to be highly related to work organization, manufacturing practices and performance outcomes. These findings suggest that heavy reliance on expatriates may function as an alternative to Japanese-style HRM practices in situations where it would be unduly difficult or costly to extend the whole package of Japanese-style HRM practices to the local work-force.  相似文献

Summary

There is considerable evidence to suggest that differences in cultural characteristics exist across the world. Among them, individualistic societies emphasize “I” consciousness, autonomy, emotional independence, pleasure seeking and universalism. On the other hand, col-lectivistic societies stress “we” consciousness, collective identity, group solidarity, sharing, and particularism. A comparative research on the motivation of tourists from different cultures may challenge current tourism research, which mainly focuses on individualism and rationalism. These values of individualism and rationalism result in underestimation of the influence of groups, norms, culture, and emotion or impulse on tourist behavior. There have been few studies which attempt to directly measure cultural characteristics and identity across culture, and to explain how these cultural characteristics play a role in creating distinctive differences in tourist motivation. Thus, this study explores (1) cultural differences underlying individualism-collectivism between Anglo-American and Japanese tourists; (2) examines the relationship of two cultural dimensions to tourist motivation, and (3) suggests management implications facing tourism industry.  相似文献

In this study the authors make efforts to survey the impact of foreign direct investment and trade on the economic growth of five East Asian countries, China, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand. Using an augmented production function (APF) growth model, the authors apply panel data Method and data span is from1980 to 2006. The required data are extracted from World Development Indicator 2008. The result shows that a co-integration relationship between growth and its determinants in the APF model is supported. Firstly, the study shows that with the increasing the inflow of foreign direct investment, positive impact on growth in Thailand, Korea and China is proved. However, this impact is negative in Philippine and Malaysia. Also the impact of trade on economic growth has the same result with FDI impact in sign. Further, the impact of labor force on growth is not significant in these countries and the effect of gross fixed capital on growth is positive and has a very high impact on selected countries.  相似文献

许慎在《说文解字》当中首创的汉字部首说是我国文字学研究的一个伟大创造,但他的部首说及其归部原则并不是无懈可击的真理。比如,《说文解字.八部》就是一个值得商榷的典型。我们充分利用目前所能见到的甲古文、金文、战国文字等文字形体重新审视了《说文解字.八部》诸字,发现许慎的八部归部存在一些不可忽视的偏差。即《说文解字.八部》内只有"分","尒","曾","尚","","詹"等字本义与八字本义联系紧密,可以入八部。  相似文献

美国的养老保险体系是由国家通过税收筹资的基本养老基金、企业建立的以401(k)计划和个人退休帐户(IRAs)为主的职业养老金计划以及相当完善的商业养老保险共同构成的三支柱式养老保险体系。通过具体分析美国国家基本养老和企业职业养老基金的构成、收入来源、支出水平以及可持续能力,说明美国养老保险体系是一个制度完善、可持续能力较强的养老保险范例,值得我国借鉴。  相似文献
